The 2008 Minnesota Vikings team achieved most of their goals.  They won the NFC North by defeating the defending champion New York Giants.  They made it into the playoffs in the Wild Card Round but that is  where their luck ended.  The Vikings would go on to lose to the Philadelphia Eagles, who would go on to lose to the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game.

With the 2009 draft, the Vikings shored up a lot of needed areas.  Their league leading defense, specifically the front four now nicknamed The Four Norsemen of the Apocalypse, were waiting for the offense to catch up to it.  It seems the wait may be over.

On August 18, 2009, the Vikings took a step closer to winning a Super Bowl Championship in a move destined to sell many a ticket.  They agreed to a two year contract with Hall of Fame Quarterback Brett Favre who played last year with the New York Jets and where he completed the season with a 9-7 record and was eliminated from playoff contention finishing 3rd in the NFC East.  Favre also made the Pro-Bowl along with a Jets franchise high 6 other players.

In the draft, they picked up  Florida WR Percy Harvin with the 22nd pick of the draft, OT Phil Loadholt from Oklahoma, Asher Allen a Cornerback from Georgia , Jasper Brinkley, a South Carolina Linebacker and Jamarca Sanford, a Safety from Mississippi.

In the first preseason game of 2009, the Vikings scored a 13-3 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.  Sage Rosenfels, brought in early 2009 to compete with Tavarias Jackson, completed 10 of 13 passes for 91 yards and a 95.4 QB rating.

Ticket sales for the 09 season have gone well, especially with the acquisition of Favre, but the franchise is soon to be taking a big risk as they move forward with their plan to push for a new stadium in 2009 where the Vikings have only a few games remaining.  The new stadium proposal places the new stadium on the old stadium site.  So be sure to get your Vikings tickets and cheer your team on to victory.
